As I sit and think about all that's going to happen this week, I get excited and a little overwhelmed all at the same time.
It's not like we never have other busy weeks around here.
It's just that this week, we're shipping 150 calves, going to town to get all paid up, I'm packing for 4 people, the kids are going to Roseau for a week, and Matt and I are going to Montana for a week.
So you see, I'm definitely not complaining.
It's just that it all seems to pile right up at the end, and it doesn't stop until we're on the 18 hour drive to Big Sky. (which, by the way, I occupy the first half of the drive reading......the second half has pretty scenery and fun shops, so I look out the window more)
Today, we've got a guy from town coming out to learn how to do chores; I'm making and freezing chicken pot pies to take with for our suppers, I need to start packing, I need to make bulletins for Wed. and Sunday, blah, blah, blah..........I won't bore you with the minor details.
Anyway, last night, about 11:45-ish, Miss Adina woke up.
She wouldn't stop crying until some time around 2.
I was a frustrated momma!
My friend from high school was just talking about this on fb last night, how her little girl stands in her crib and whines for a while every night.
I posted on her wall that Adina's been doing it now for a couple nights....I definitely jinxed myself......because boy did she ever do it last night.
I let her cry and cry and cry.....nothing seemed to wear her out. Then, she'd throw her pacifier on the floor (I know, it's time to get rid of it, but Carmen....Matt's mom.....says we need to wait until we get back from Montana so she has something to calm her down with, which I totally agree with). That would make her cry even more. So, I'd go in, search around on the floor for a stupid pacifier, give it to her, try to lay her down, she'd pop right back up, and be bawling again before I made it to the door.
Hope she doesn't keep this up much longer.....it's hard on my sleep!
Fortunately, Matt was kind enough to get up with Clarence this morning, and I was able to sleep for a little longer.
He took both kids out with him to start chores, too, but Adina didn't last long. Her fingers were cold, so she's back in with me.
Tomorrow, a semi's coming to take our heifers; the steers are going Thursday morning. I'm excited to see what they'll end up weighing. It's always nice to get rid of most of the calves - actually, it's very reassuring - because we get paid, we don't have to feed them anymore, and Matt's chore time reduces considerably. Then it starts all over again in a couple weeks.....yay for new babies!
Hope you have a great day!
I've been trying to upload pictures, but my computer's been really slow lately, so you'll just have to be patient.
