We went for a drive last night to my pasture over by Lake Bronson. We really want to get the cows hauled out, but there's not really enough grass out there to keep the cows happy very long. So, Matt wants to keep them home a little longer and let the grass grow a little more.
We're in dire need of rain. Last Saturday, the forecast for our area said there was a chance of rain every day this week. The only rain we had was Wednesday, and it was only enough to calm the dust and wet the sidewalk.
The pond out at my pasture was what Matt wanted to check. If there was enough water in it, we'd maybe send the cows out. We drove right up to it; there was a bird standing in the middle of it. A small bird.
We have water tanks out there, but we were hoping not to have to turn them on right away. At least we have them to fall back on, though. I think of other farmers and ranchers in the area who only rely on ponds for their pastures. If we don't get a good dose of rain soon, the crops will be very thirsty, and the ponds are going to get pretty low.
The grass is growing great in my yard, though. It's almost ready to mow. There's even tons of dandelions all over; Clarence likes them, though. He picks them and brings me "flowers". He's a cute boy.
Hope you have a super day!
Pray we get a little rain soon.....the pastures really need it!
