Well, it's deer season up here in MN.......that means relaxing nights at the cabin, fun, visiting with family and other hunting cabins, lots of good suppers, and, of course, hunting (a little). It's not that important to Matt or me anymore if we actually shoot a deer, so we just go out and sit a little to see if we actually see something that might be worth shooting.
Over the past weekend, I didn't hunt at all on Saturday, and Sunday, I just took Clarence out for a while in the morning with his own toy gun. In the afternoon, we made a drive, but didn't see a deer, so we gave up on that, too. By the time we finished the drive, it was starting to snow a little. It snowed all evening, and when we woke up Monday morning, the whole ground was covered in white. Lucky for us, most of it has melted. It's not that warm, though, just in the lower 40's, so it melts really slowly.
Yesterday, I had to teach piano all day, so the kids went to the sitter. Matt said he had a productive day; he cleaned out one of the barns so we can store haying equipment in there, then he put up some more cross pieces on the fence. Today, we're going to tie up some corners and put up 1/4 or 1/2 mile of fence. We'll see how well the kids do, I guess.
Tonight, after it gets dark, we're going to head to Roseau to visit Matt's family. His grandma's been kind of sick, and we haven't seen her for a while, so we want to go and say hi. Plus, we need to pull the baler over there (to Wannaska) to the man we bought it from - he keeps it for part or all of the winter and services it for us. That'll be nice!
Well, deer season hasn't produced anything exciting yet - and this next weekend doesn't look promising, either. Friday and Saturday, I'll be in Fargo for my church classes, and Sunday afternoon, we're having Clarence's birthday at the cabin. Oh well, I guess I can hunt a little now during the week....if I want, that is. We'll see.
Have a great day! Enjoy the last of the nice, sunny, snow-free weather!
